And now for a real mystery. Why are European human hair wigs not made in China where labor costs are much lower than in Poland, Russia, or the Czech Republic? The main reason is no good quality European human hair available in large enough quantities to make profitable large scale production in China possible. This is because wig makers in Eastern European countries are buying all of the available hair for their own production.
If I were on Council, one of the first thing I would suggest is a process for public engagement before major policy direction or major capital projects are formulated.Municipal government is the closest form of representative government to the people and public input is crucial to an inclusive and visionary community.I see very little of this happening in Leduc. There was recently an open house on the intermunicipal development plan but only after the process was completed, there was no public forum for input to the City’s Strategic Plan, at least that I could find. In fact, the last public visioning session was almost 2 years ago.City Council is the direct representative body for the citizens of Leduc and, although we elect them to make crucial policy decisions on our behalf, they also have an obligation to regularly consult with the citizens to gain an “on the street” perspective. But, and a big but, the citizens of Leduc need to show an interest in their local governance and not only attend public forums when called but also attend Council meetings and witness democracy in action.Currently, Council meetings and public hearings are generally poorly attended by the public (I missed the Bylaw meeting as I was in Ontario visiting my first granddaughter).Get out and participate in the governance process, voice your opinion on how we develop this community and what kind of a future we leave for our kids..
What my friends on the golf team did in the high school weight room in the early 80’s was primitive to the workout science and programs that are available to golfers now, but they were definitely on to something. One way to look at it was that before it became popular, they were athletes who happened to play golf, and it showed in the length they had off the tee. This athletic approach can be applied to any golfer’s game in the present day and immediately improve their ability to play better.
“Our first album was a pretty grassroots project,” she said. “We were really lucky to have a fantastic mentor in Greg Simm who produced and recorded it for us in our very own living room. In that sense we were really comfortable, and we knew that in order to play our best on this album, we would have to choose a studio where we felt right at home.”.
